Ladyhawke by HollyTheTerrible Ladyhawke by HollyTheTerrible
So I grew up watching Ladyhawke (that Richard Donner film from the 80’s). Even with all the Matthew Broderick and the Alan Parsons music score (which did not age well) littered throughout it, THIS movie still continues to hold a special place in my heart.

Art Details:
Mixed media (mostly acrylic paints) on 11” x 14” bristol heavy weight paper. Touch-ups and color correction were done on the computer after scanning the illustration also. Started and finished in the summer of 2013. Ladyhawke is not owned by me, this is just fanart and I make no profit from this illustration.

I have a lot of nostalgia for Ladyhawke. I too grew up with it as a kid in the 80s. I love your interpretation of the characters.

I love this film.  I, too, grew up with it.  It is much underrated these days.

Wonderful! Your unique art is very enjoyable.
This movie brings back good memoires... I've always though of myself as possibly being a descendant of "the mouse"...

Whatever else you might say about Matthew Broderick, Mouse had a lot of the great lines.

"I fully expect to meet you at the Pearly Gates, little thief."
"I'll meet you there, father, even if I have to pick the lock."

I was once greatly entertained to hear the title theme playing after a bird show at a zoo. As I recall, the last bird of the show was a hawk.

I'm generally open to this or that actor, so I don't mind what I've seen of him (all...two movies that I recall offhand). That aside, I still remember first watching Ladyhawke about twenty years ago. Thanks to this, I may have to dig out my copy and watch it again. I didn't expect many people to know it, let alone make art of it, so my stream of thought when I came across this was more or less "Huh. What's thi—Ladyhawke?! Oh, no way."

As a result, I blame you for certain Alan Parsons music that has been stubbornly stuck in my head. :shakefist:

This is the most beautiful Ladyhawke fanart I've ever seen OAO
(the soundtrack made me giggle a bit but it's still an awesome movie)

That does sound like a wonderful memory! I used to watch this movie over and over again from the old Betamax my Dad owned. I eventually wore it out and had to buy a VHS copy to replace it. :)

This is a great piece, very well done :)

I love this movie, but you couldn't be more right about the score. It normally takes me 20 minutes or so before it fades into the background for me.

Mine as well and yeah, the soundtrack is not something that I truly hate...I just find that it doesn't fit the mood of some scenes. That's a personal thing really and I know others who love the music score of this film. Thank you!

I don't remember the score but I remember the movie. Michelle Pfeiffer's gorgeous eyes! You've done a great job bringing all the elements together here! Added to favorites.

Just last night my husband and I were talking about Ladyhawke and how much we loved the movie, and how long it had been since we've seen it. It just made me so elated and thrilled to see this pop up as a DD today since the topic was already swimming around in my mind.

Gorgeous image, I love how you incorporated the main elements of the story and the flow of the picture as a whole. I seriously love this, you're amazingly talented!

If only they changed the score, it would be a great movie. I like the movie too, and Willow.

I agree that if they had, it would have been a better known film that more people would have loved. I still love it regardless of the score though. Somethings I can forgive I guess. Willow is another nostalgia flick for me from my childhood. It's far from perfect, but like Ladyhawke, is another fantasy gem in my opinion. :D
