The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by HollyTheTerrible The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by HollyTheTerrible
Illustration of Lisbeth Salander. I used Rooney Mara as reference. I thought she did a phenomenal job in the film.

*Update* I took a picture of it today, since last night my scanner cut off some details. Had to take it outside for decent lighting too and took what seemed like a whole memory card worth of shots. I luckily got this one that matches the colours of the original well and isn't too blurry.

Materials used:
Colored pencils, ink, prisma markers, watercolors, acrylic paints, and white gel pen on bristol paper.

Here is my original pencil drawing [link]

And here is the scanned copy that is probably better in quality than my photo, but is cut off in places [link]

Artist Note: I do not own Lisbeth from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This is just fan art for my own enjoyment.

I absolutely love this. When I saw you used colored pencils my jaw dropped to the floor. Wonderful. Job. Of course. I can't say anything else besides that.

Thank you very much! I like (and often use) traditional art materials. I feel like I have more control, at least until I get better with computer paint programs (which I am still a beginner in). :)

Oh, she's creepy. Like creepy creepy. That's one of the reasons I haven't seen/read the series yet - Lizbeth's design is really scary.
This is beautiful! There's something with the chin area that bothers me. Perhaps it's a little too small? I love the cold yet bold colours you've chosen and her hair is amazingly done. I demand for a walkthrough of your process. Yes.

Hehe.

I used to wear my hair like Lisbeth back in college and for several years afterwards. I didn't have all those piercings or tattoos that she has though. I would sometimes even shave the sides of my head and I dressed like her often. Maybe that is why I had very few friends back then. lol :)

People probably thought I was creepy too. When I actually was a very nice decent person who liked (and still does) listening to classical music and the occasional metal band. I have friends and family who have loads of tattoos and dress outside the norm, so it didn't seem like a big deal.

Yeah, I can see where the chin might seem off. I was going for an exaggerated portrait style. I never like portraying realism very much. I like to alter things to fit my fancy. :) Plus, I have a very tiny chin myself and I might have subconsciously drawn it like mine. Seriously, it is ridiculously small! I have such an odd face. lol

I have been meaning to make a walkthrough of my art. I'll let you know when I get them done. Hopefully, I will do a good job on them and not make them a confusing mess! Also, thanks on the compliment about the hair! It was fun to work on!

Awesome! I love the books. Haven't seen the movies. But I knew who it was without looking at the title. Very nice.
